Russell Sheaffer

Russell Sheaffer is an experimental film and documentary maker with a strong academic background.  He received his Masters in Cinema Studies from NYU and his films, which often focus on the politics of gender and sexuality, have screened both nationally and internationally at venues such as the MoMA, UCLA, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Torino GLBT Film Festival, Boston LGBT Film Festival, and the Anthology Film Archives.  Most recently, a short film that he co-wrote and co-directed with James Franco, MASCULINITY & ME, was featured in Franco’s solo exhibition, “The Dangerous Book Four Boys” in New York and Berlin (where the NY Times deemed the piece “the best by far” and V Man described it as one of the pieces which showed “irresolute, pop culture-inflected brilliance”).
